Taf Anthias, chief technology officer (CTO) for MQSeries development at IBM's Hursley Park offices in the UK is the newly appointed technical chair of the technical committee of the International Middleware Association (IMWA), which is making a push into Europe. Anthias was overseeing IBM's publish/subscribe efforts--part of a strategy to add to the roster of business integration packages that rely on MQSeries (TTW, November 9, 1998). The Message Queuing (MQ) technology from IBM has become widely adopted among major middleware providers to the financial services industry. Anthias and others on the technical committee will work to help provide the IMWA with mechanisms for interacting with other standards organizations. The IMWA also has four new Special Interest Groups (SIGs): Business-to-Business; Internet Application Integration; Middleware to the Internet; and the European Special Internet Group (ESIG). Some of the new IMWA members are: PricewaterhouseCoopers, Sanwa International, Chase, Fleet Bank and Hewlett-Packard. Sun Microsystems and Talarian are already members. More information is available from http://www.imwa.org.
